Kenny Allison of Jacksonville Florida was hunting on the second day of the Geogia 2008 spring turkey season when he see's this magnificent gobbler fly off the roost and land right over his Pretty Boy decoy and strut to his hunting setup, except this was no ordinary wild turkey coming in too his turkey calls, he could not hesitate to spook the dark colored wild turkey so Kenny decided to harvest the bird and not take a chance on spooking this magnificent melanistic black phase wild turkey. Too his amazement he had seen nothing like this wild turkey in the great outdoors. The feathers were all black except for 1.5 of the tail fathers which looked like a normal eastern wild turkey. His grandfather Virgil Allison had harvested a eastern the same morning and when the birds were sided by side Kenny could then tell how unique his bird really was. I received the phone call and suggested he mount this wild turkey flying so you could see all the colors of his Black Pahse Eastern Wild Turkey (Melanistic Wild Turkey) which sported an impressive 18 lbs, 3/4" spurs and a 8" beard.
